Calendar of Events for Troop 624

The troop has multiple events coming up in the near future. The first of these is Winter Sinoquipe. It will go from January 27^th to the 29^th. We have the following scouts marked as going, please contact me if this is incorrect.

This is the troop’s annual Winter Cabin Camping at Sinoquipe.    The troop has a cabin at Camp Sinoquipe.   We will depart on January 19th and return on Sunday the 21st.

It is always a fun weekend of camping, hiking and other activities depending on the weather.   We are looking forward to our Pack 624 Arrow of Light scouts joining us too.

T624 will be at the Cub Scout Camperall.   The Boy Scouts will be showing the Cub Scouts various ways to build fires.

The Alonzo Stagg 50/20 Hike (ASH) is a one day hike through Arlington, Maryland, and Washington DC typically held in March each year. The ultimate goal of the hike is to walk 50 miles in 20 hours; however hikers can chose how far they walk based on their own endurance (10 mile minimum). It is a popular event for Chain Bridge District, with between 200 and 250 hikers participating each year.

Each troop that participates in the hike is reponsible for hosting a station during the hike. Troop 624 will be providing the hike support at Bluemont park again this year. Our station at Bluemont is the final one of the hike. It is located at the Bluemont Park Pavilion. We need to man this station from about 4 PM – midnight, because the 50 mile hikers go around a two-mile loop several times to complete the hike. It’s really exciting to watch them finish up their 50 miles. Quite a feat! And we have fun hosting!

Troop 624 will head to Sinoquipe to enjoy a weekend of hiking & fishing.
The troop will stay in a cabin. Others that need camping nights may bring tents.
The troop will also be working on Advancement during this weekend at Sinoquipe.

Webelos are welcome to join us for this fun weekend of scouting

Troop 624 will be having their Spring Court of Honor. Merit badges and advancement will be awarded to the scouts.   The CoH will take place at the covered pavilion at Lacey Woods Park.

The Troop will participate in the 14th Annual Chain Bridge District Klondike Derby.   The troop will camp on Friday night at Camp Highroad.

We will be holding a PLC to plan the Court of Honor and events beyond that. If you are a Patrol Leader, Assistant Patrol Leader, Quartermaster, or Scribe, please be at the church by 7:00 for the PLC.
